For My Adult Children

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity; it dares all things, and remorselessly crushes down all that stands in its path.”  ~Agatha Christie

Stay with me as we begin with Matthew 7: please take some time to read it, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you through the reading.

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person – He believed in me.” ~Jim Valvano

First and foremost, know that God did not bring us this far in our life’s journey just to watch us tear each other apart.  There have been phone calls, e-mails, angry exchanges, etc., that are not edifying this family, but are dividing us and we are fast destroying ourselves.  There is a malicious spirit of division and anger and hatred and jealousy and envy ministering to everyone!  And, as spiritual head of this family, I will not tolerate it and I do now speak the judgements of Christ upon these spirits.  They will not stand, nor will they minister to anyone, for they are judged according to His word.  Seek your heart and repent.

“Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words, for I see violence and strife in the city.  10Day and night they prowl about on its walls; malice and abuse are within it.  11Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets.  12If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide.  13But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, 14with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers.”  Psalm 55: 9-14

Secondly, I have known our Lord my whole life – I am a sinner saved and forgiven by a loving and gracious God Who has guided me my entire life.  I am an ordained Deacon in the house of God since 1977, with a responsibility to lead others and cover them spiritually according to His purpose.  I seek nothing to feed my flesh, for this responsibility comes with tremendous spiritual warfare as a side effect.  You have no idea the path I have trod or the battles I have fought, so stop judging me according to your little crooked yardsticks.

“We are not human beings going through a temporary spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings going through a temporary human experience.” ~I Corinthians 2:16-1

Those of you with new-found religion be careful with the stones in your path for they are easy to pick up and throw at others – God will judge each one accordingly – it is not your job, nor is it my fault – I will not own it.  Your insecurity and jealousy have caused you to undermine and destroy relationships within this family, further planting a seed of division and unrest and strife – in essence, you have usurped a position of authority that is not yours to walk in and God will never honor your efforts.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”  Matthew 7:1-2

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:15-20

I have been, and remain, the spiritual authority over this family – I cover you in the spirit lest that which I battle on a daily basis should hit you full force – that is my job as your mother and spiritual authority and head of household throughout your lives.  And remember there is nothing you can ever do or say that will ever limit my unconditional love for you and I am always here to pick up the pieces of your life – always!

“Don’t let the difficulties of the present moments overshadow the reality of God’s promises. God’s promises still stand. And God’s promises are stronger than our failures.”

Always start with the man in the mirror – it is never easy to own what is yours but, oh, so much easier to blame everyone around you for what is happening in your life.  Remember that you live with your choices:  I do not make nor do I control your career choices, your daily diet regimen, your daily log of activities, or your daily life decisions.  If you are not happy, change yourself! Do not blame me! You are adults! If your relationships are not working out the way you envisioned, examine your own heart first!  I have never asked you nor have I ever urged you to be unfaithful, jealous, insecure, angry, etc. – that is a character trait you picked up and a choice you made to embrace and walk in – own it!

“The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own.  You don’t blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the President.  You realize that you control your own destiny.”  ~Albert Ellis

“Christians need to stop attacking other people while ignoring the sin in their own life. Correction should start with the person in the mirror, not the stranger on the sidewalk. It is the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge, and my job to love.” ~Billy Graham, based on Matthew 7:3

If you are holding onto anger and bitterness of the past, let it go!  Stop the blame game and seek professional counseling, get on your knees and cry out to God! Do not pick up the phone and feed the spirits of hate, bitterness, envy, or division.  If you truly seek to heal and make this family live before God as an honor and glory unto His Name, knee prayer is more effective than feeding the evil that is among us.  Let us move on from this place!

“I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.”  1 Chronicles 7:5

“Conquer the angry man by love; conquer the ill-natured man by goodness; conquer the miser with generosity; conquer the liar with truth.”  ~The Buddha

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”  ~Buddha

“Hate, resentment, and anger are parasites that feed off the heart until there’s nothing left for love to live on.” ~Richard Paul Evans

“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”  ~Pablo Picasso

I will not be bullied into silence – never again!  I stopped being a victim and a survivor in 1991 when I started living my life in full force unto His glory.  My Beloved is mine and I am His!  And I let no one take my crown! Revelations 3:11.  I have fought and crawled my way into His presence and I determine to stand on Higher Ground tonight!

“Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.”  ~Harvey Fierstein

Paul’s Helpful Words to Young Timothy
“11Tell people that this is what they must do. 12Let no one show little respect for you because you are young. Show other Christians how to live by your life. They should be able to follow you in the way you talk and in what you do. Show them how to live in faith and in love and in holy living. 13Until I come, read and preach and teach the Word of God to the church.”  1 Timothy 4:11-13 NLV

This weighs heavy on my heart this day.  Like it or leave it, it remains your choice, and I apologize to no one, for I am beyond angry at this point.  Know that I am tired of the bullshit calls and the “he said that you said that she said that you told her”, etc., etc.  Seriously? How old are you? Realize, too, that as long as your father lives, I reserve the absolute right and God-given power to share any and all information vital to the survival of this family with him – he remains your father and I have never, ever shut the door to your relationship with him or your right to reach out to him – how dare you question my right to call your dad when I need to share certain aspects of this family with him!  Especially when he asks, “So what’s going on?”  You are truly shamed before God!

“Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother is a child who brings shame and disgrace.”  Proverbs 19:26

I want everything to come to a grinding halt!  Cease fire and stand down!  I also do not want your callous feedback or rebuttals or excuses or your unsolicited opinions!  Enough is enough!  Those of you who asked me to stand down in your life, I have honored that request, so honor mine.  The phone calls and the e-mails stop now!  Step up to the plate and own it and stop tearing the family apart!  Ask yourself, “Are my actions honoring God?”  Stop blaming me for the direction your life has taken, and please leave me out of the middle! Suck it up, Buttercups!

For those of you still honorable enough and willing to call me “Mother”, a gift God has bestowed on me, I remain Your Mother in Christ.
